Arundel is a market town and civil parish in the South Downs of West Sussex in the south of England. The River Arun, which was named after the town, runs through the western side of the town. The name is pronounced ['æɺənd(ə)l] (emphasis on the first syllable), unlike the county of Anne Arundel in Maryland, United States, in which Arundel is pronounced [a'ɺʌnd(ə)l] (emphasis on the second syllable).
